Bred for the survival of the fittest, this breed has no health problems. Only the most fit, strong and healthiest dogs were bred. The breed is very adaptable to temperature and live in climates ranging from -10 degrees to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

As with all dogs, especially those which will weigh between 75 to 90 pounds, training early in their life is important. You must establish yourself as the pack leader. The temperament of the Alano is very dominant and serious but can be highly controlled by his master, acting submissively towards him. Very affectionate with friends and family, it is very patient with children. Stable, reliable, obedient, and barking very little, they will attack with little warning if the situation requires it.
