The plush coat is medium-length with a dense undercoat and distinctive mane around the neck and on the chest. The plush coat requires regular bushing to keep it tangle free, the smooth coat requires minimal brushing. The Shiloh Shepherd Dog sheds year round and is a seasonally heavy shedder.

The coat of the Shiloh Shepherd Dog comes in a variety of colors. The coat may be bi or dual colors of black and tan, golden tan, reddish tan, solid gold, silver, red, dark brown, dark gray, sable black, solid black, or solid white. This breed may have white on the chest or on the toes.
