The coat of the Slovensky Kopov is short and close fitting to the skin. The hair is dense and slightly course to the touch. Longer hair covers the neck, back, and tail. This breed has a double coat; the undercoat grows thicker during the colder months of the year.

The coat color of the Slovensky Kopov is only black and mahogany and gives the breed a sleek and elegant appearance.
