This is a versatile and natural hunter with an excellent nose and a good record of trainability. They are very lively yet gentle mannered. They are affectionate and very sensitive dogs. The dog is a wire-coated hunter with a distinguished appearance and bearing. They have a lean build yet are very robust and strong. The color is a russet to a sandy color. Exercise is very important for all gun dogs and the Vizslas are no different. It would be a good idea to plan on about thirty minutes per day for the needed exercise. If a large area is available, the Vizslas will take advantage of it. They like to run and jump. You will find that they like to play with the master in these situations as well.
The Wirehaired Vizsla thrives on attention and demands it from his family or pack. The dogs like to interact with their human pets in mentally and physically situated drills and exercise. If the dogs do not get the required exercise, they could tend to get hyper and even destructive in their play. Depression is also something that must be dealt with as soon as it is noticed. Watch for obsessive-compulsive behaviors such as persistent licking. Many Viaslas will take to the master’s bed if allowed to. They love to burrow under the covers and try to displace the Alpha.
